Creatively entitled the PUMA States?, this pair of collaborative kicks comes straight from Europe’s sneaker super-store, Size?, showing off their design talent in 2006.

Released in limited numbers alongside two other colorways (a greenish yellow and a pinkish red) these lush ‘nightshade’, ‘prism’ violet, and ‘whisper’ basketball trainers hit the open market in parallel with the launching of a large holiday bash by PUMA, size?, VICE, and 1xtra.

They went on sale at Carnaby Street’s size? store December 5th and the first ten folks to purchase a pair were given free tickets to the party. Acts such as Big Daddy Kane, Doug E Fresh, Norman Jay, Patrick Forge, DJ Biznizz, Mike Pickering, Graeme Park, and Baby Ford.

Even Crooked Tongues got wrapped into the holiday merriment, launching a contest to offer up five pairs with 5 free tickets if the lucky contestants could accurately answer a music-related question posted on their online magazine.

For those that missed the European release, worldwide sales went out on March of 2007, though, of course, without the accompanying party. If you didn’t pick up a pair then, you better get hunting, for this deep purple States? are definitely some of the classiest collabs we’ve seen on the classic basketball silhouette in a while.

Contribute hype to eatmoreshoes

Here at eatmoreshoes we love our kicks, but we also open our minds to the greater cultural world that surrounds and engulfs the sneaker scenes around the world. Music, arts, events, films, performance, fashion, food, and people are at the heart of what is so good about lush leather and sweet suede strapped to your ankles with soft vintage laces, fats or thins, colored or bleached. We truly believe it’s the diversity of the scenes that make things stay exciting and keep up momentum year after year.

For this reason we see ‘hype’ as something that should cover more than just the most recent shoe releases or the most awaited collaborations between boutiques and brands. We think an album debut party or an avantgarde street performance could be ‘hype’. We think independent zine issues and self-built, DIY, underground gallery spaces are worthy of the title ‘hype’.

Welcome to eatmoreshoes, an online magazine specifically geared towards the adidas and PUMA brands.

The idea behind our magazine is relatively simple: we’re creating a site that showcases both the ‘history’ and the ‘hype’ of the worldwide sneaker culture without being elitist or trying to dictate to our readers. We cover various aspects of this culture by providing archives of adidas and PUMA shoes and clothing, hunting down and interviewing collectors, searching out the best stores we can find, and reporting on the hype.
