These are just unbelievably lush; the kind of Clyde that will convert even an Air Jordan fan over to the dark side of Deutsch sneaker production.

What’s so special about these soft, ‘olive’ green PUMA Clyde’s? Well, for one, we had the sheer luck of stumbling across this pair in perfect – and I do mean perfect – condition. Deadstock, in the box. And that’s a feat, considering their November 1991 production date (and likely late ’91 or early ’92 release).

In general, the Clyde is not typically known to be made with a black outsole, so that main feature truly sets these apart. From what we understand PUMA actually released a few colorways like this back in the early 90s, with at least six different versions including red, yellow, brown, blue, and a deep dark purple being produced between ’91 and ’92.

The so-called ‘olive’ upper is labeled as leather though this must have been before the days of claiming the term nubuck as these are so damn soft and supple it’s amazing. Butter from head to toe. The only two places on the upper that aren’t smooth as silk are the squishy leather heel tabs and the intricately embroidered tongue tag, showing off its own appeal with a shiny, reflective surface treatment.

Taiwan-made, labeled with a synthetic inner lining, and packaged with the trademark semi-fat laces, these Clyde’s are an excellent choice, allowing for the utmost pleasure in your daily casual ongoings. Grab a pair if you can, as any color from this past series is a surefire way to turn heads, especially amongst those in the know.

So nice. These are at the top of my list. I wish they were a little easier to find though.

I love the uppers on this but I am not a big fan of black soles. I don’t know why.
