Sneaker Freaker x PUMA The Clyde Book

  • DESIGNED BY: Sneaker Freaker
  • MADE ON: --/10

Take a good look at this book here because it’s rarer than some of the limited editions featured within its pages. The Clyde Book made by the good folks at Sneaker Freaker in 2010 was not available for sale and was strictly limited to key worldwide individuals and contributors. A run of only ninety hand-bound premium suede with gold stamped covers were made for the very selected, with a further one thousand hardback versions. The suede versions also come with photos showing production using the same material as on the Clyde shoes as well as a thank you letter from both Sneaker Freaker and PUMA.

Those who contributed will tell you that it was a long time in the making, but if you’re ever lucky enough to view a copy you’ll see that it was definitely worthwhile. The book guides the reader through the past, present and future of the Puma Clyde. For the uninformed it also features comparisons between their Suede family models, including Baskets, First Rounds and States. There’s also numerous interviews with film makers, DJs, store owners, collectors, and graffiti writers each telling their personal stories of how they fell in love with the Clyde and what it means to them. Some of the people featured include Bobbito Garcia, Hikmet from Solebox, the SneakerNStuff boys Peter and Erik, Forever Fresh’s Chillie63 & measel, myself, Rob-L and Mark Bode. Not forgetting an informative and must read interview and history of the man Walt ‘Clyde’ Frazier himself.

In the years that followed since the first Clyde book ‘Legend 01′ this details several of the major Clyde releases up until 2010. These include the Japanese made Clydezilla’s, Bonnie & Clyde’s, Solebox’s with their snakeskin formstrip, Rob-L customs, and the infamous Yo MTV Rap editions.

Just like a limited pair Clydes this book is a must have addition to die hard Puma connoisseurs, but getting hold of a copy may be easier said than done.
