The classic adidas Tech Super came back in late 2012 / early 2013 in a variety of digestible colorways and now it surfaces again with a futuristic twist.

Model upgrades are an interesting thing; one can’t always tell what an additional word (or even worse, an elusive cryptic acronym) truly means when it’s appended onto the end of a model name. Typically though, details aside, the added description will infer some sort of shift in build or significant design changes. And in the case of the adidas Tech Super, the ‘Technica’ upgrade pictured here gives the recently revitalized OG trainer a run for its money.

Despite their nearly sheer black exterior, this pair reminds me a lot of the Tech Super WCAP (water color animal print) pair from earlier in 2013. And due to their semi-chaotic nature, I believe many will likely love the calmer, cleaner, and arguably classier version better, but this pair of funky future footwear certainly have their own merit. Combining a fun inner animal pattern with a sleek black upper, various translucent bits thrown in, and some wild architectural twists (such as the hole in the tongue), these adidas Tech Super Technica’s definitely push the envelope.

Considering the craze caused by the array of Tech Super retro colorways we’re curious to see how the Technica hits the shelves, and whether they bounce from the racks like rubber into the tote bags of hungry hunters or simply sit sadly until it’s sales day for those super-savers out there. Only time will tell, and with a slated drop date of August 2013 (via Size?) we’ll have to wait and see. And finally, for those that aren’t feeling the all black and inner animal print, there’ll be an olive green pair, and of course some more of the expected Tech Super retros as well.
