After over 30 years of being dormant, the adidas City Marathon PT is once again active. The model was rediscovered when a 90-year old former technical director was moving houses and stumbled upon this fossil in his attic. After presenting it to the current peeps at aO (adidas Originals), they decided to put the model back into production.

It fits in perfectly with their current renewal tactic, which involves sweeping through the gems of the golden days and bringing them back. This model got a head start over the others being released in 2014 through the City Marathon Pack that released this September in three city’s unique colorways (Berlin, Chicago, and New York). But other models involved for 2014 include the Hamburg, ZX 930, and ZXZ 930, as well as ’90s models such as the EQT Running Support, EQT Elevation, and the Tech Super. However the City Marathon PT and 930s are being released under the Blue collection, which means less conservative colorways. In this case, it happens to be a Nomad Orange, which, unless you’re at an oompa loompa convention, can be spotted from a mile away.

One plus side to the City Marathon’s over other models is that they’re equipped with a removal tongue padding, which we find highly desirable. It allows for a personalized level of comfort which is usually only obtained by switching the pair of shoes on your feet. It also features the Dillinger’s web, which was heavily used on running shoes throughout the ’80s and ’90s. And if you like the concept but you’re not into orange, it’s also being released in true blue, light clay, and wild green colorways.

Everyone give thanks to the former technical director because without him, this model would still be lost in time. Look forward to the release this Spring (2014).
