Graffiti culture has been a hot topic for shoe designs over the years and adidas joined in on the band wagon with their various End 2 End series releases. This Decade Low was designed by Scien and Klor – a married couple – who formed the infamous 123 Klan graffiti crew in 1992, and it was created for the second phase of the End 2 End series that adidas Originals and Footlocker worked together to produce.
The Decade Low Scien is made of black leather with large amounts of yellow (and a bit of white and grey) splashed throughout the heavily decorated body. Various graffiti lettering and illustrations (such as diamonds, bubbles, stars, and skulls) litter the shoe in funky, playful patterns. One of the main highlights of the shoe is the ‘Klor’ throw up on the side wall with the words ‘bling bling’ embroidered into a nearby bubble. The yellow side stripes are printed with ‘Scien & Klor’.
The yellow toe box is surrounded by a black bridge and walls printed with angular grey block lettering. The black leather tongue reads ‘Scien & Klor’ in large yellow font, and ‘adidas End to End’ above it in smaller, white font. The bright yellow heel tab is printed with the typical adidas trefoil logo in black. Underneath it on the inner side of the heel is the ’123 Klan’ hit up with an abstract character face in grey.
The insole is white and black and has some crazy detailed print with various text and illustrations. The out sole is mostly black with yellow trim and an accented black grip cup for extra traction. The shoes come with yellow and black laces and were made in the same style as a matching tracksuit top also by Klor and Scien.
