The “Bluebird Snake” features the classic 1984 basketball silhouette of the Forum Mid with an electrifying blue colorway and snakeskin texture. The street shoe with the signature hook-and-loop ankle strap, three stripe trademark, and external heel counter is reissued as part of the Spring 2011 “Snake Skin” pack consisting of two other adidas Originals. The animal inspiration from the previous spring collection was the white and black stripes of zebras, and now it’s the scaly texture and unique pattern of snakeskin.
The simple traditional leather that makes up the shoes is updated with the luxurious overlay of a blue suede base and blue and black snakeskin trim on the toe, mid-foot, and ankle sections. The upper part rests on top of a white outsole that is surfaced with the adidas name and trefoil logos. The overwhelming blue colorway contrasts with the white of the adidas branding, three stripe trademark, and laces, and the combination of textures and color results in this very loud pair of kicks.
Even though the “Bluebird Snake” still retains the adjustable fit and heel support of the Forum Mid, this particular shoe is now valued as a contemporary lifestyle shoe with its eye-catching blue hue and premium snakeskin texture. It’s sold with an alternate set of blue laces, but that might just be too much blue.
