To celebrate their 15th Anniversary, VIBE magazine has teamed up with adidas to put out a very unique remake of the Forum Mid. Production was limited to 1500 pairs and only sold at adidas Originals stores. The shoe has a classy, luxury look, quite a gamble with a basketball silhouette.
However, despite luxurious looks, the VIBE Forum Mid is a relatively stiff and supportive shoe; much firmer than usual and more like a Consortium release in build and feel.
The shoes are almost entirely shiny patent leather, covered in a funky pattern that looks like a cross between snake and ostrich skin. The side stripes pop in a white and black seamless greek key pattern. The red lettering on the inside of the tongue (‘VIBE’) and ankle strap (‘JUICE’) helps to break up the otherwise all-black shoe.
The innersole is also red, and printed with the words ‘XVIBE Celebrating 15 years: Music. Life. Style. Vibe’. The midsole, outsole, and toe box are completely black, as well as the (typically-placed) tongue and heel patch trefoil logos.
They come with printed laces that match the side stripes, as well as an extra, inverted pair. The black plastic lace tags display a large capital ‘XV’ in white lettering: the roman numerals for the number 15. They include an alternate, inverted lace tag to match the extra laces.
