In 2008 adidas Originals dropped a Superstar “Made in France” pack, paying homage to the vintage shoes from their previous years that collectors drool over. Almost three decades earlier, when shoes were made in France and West Germany and Yugoslavia (among many other places), high quality craftsmanship was a given.

Here we have an original Superstar from those early days. The iconic off-white shelltoe and textured, rubber outsole are stitched to the all white leather upper creating the silhouette that would be known years later as the adidas Superstar 80s. A thin tongue rests behind soft white laces, neaten woven above the perforated, light gray, leather side stripes.

More detailed body features include air holes running down the spaces between the stripes, immediately recognizable stitching patterns on the side wall, and a vertically aligned heel strip connecting to the trefoil branded heel patch. The shoes come in a vinage-style, adidas Originals, royal blue box, covered in patterned text making it obvious which sneaker giant produced these prehistoric beauties.
