A Bathing Ape (BAPE) and adidas came together in 2003 for a shoe release that has yet to be forgotten and is still quite pursued. Last week both companies dropped their newest collaboration, another Superstar 80s, as part of the B-Sides series.
These BAPE x adidas Superstar 80s B-Sides have a light cream colored suede upper, shell toe, and rubber stitched outsole, contrasted by the navy side stripes. The BAPE logo appears in navy on the heel and again on the tongue in gold foil to match the adidas text (also written in gold) in the BAPE-style camo-patterned innersole. The side is inscribed with the words ‘Trèfle en chevrons et Bape’ (French for ‘Chevrons and clover Bape’).
The shoes come in a royal blue Originals box and are packaged with an extra set of navy laces. Those who picked up the kicks at No74 in Berlin received a limited edition BAPE x adidas poster as well.
Made in extremely limited numbers, these kicks were only available in Berlin (at No74), London (at BAPE and No6), Paris, Korea, and Japan, with most stores having a mere 30 to 40 pairs. Collectors and resellers were found waiting outside the boutiques for more than 48 hours to get their hands on a pair.
