To celebrate their 60th anniversary, adidas hand selected twelve leading shoe retailers from around the world to participate in the 3WAY Consortium project. These retailers were grouped into three teams, each of which collaborated on the reinvention of five iconic shoes from the adidas Originals collection. The concept packs were released in March, May and July 2009.

The second drop of the 3WAY Consortium project brought together four of North America’s most prominent retailers – Huf (San Francisco), DQM (New York), Undefeated (Los Angeles) and Goodfoot (Canada). They customized this Superstar 80s with a simple colorway and luxurious textures, but kept the famous low top silhouette and rubber shell toe of the original shoe.

The color contrast appears in the true blue upper and three stripes over a white toe and outersole, the white heel tab with the adidas branding in blue, the blue tongue label with the collaborators’ names around the adidas trefoil in white, and the blue innersole with the adidas and project name patterned in white. The overlay of textures is visible in the suede stripes on top of the mesh upper and in the rubber toe, leather heel tab, and suede leather tongue.

This Superstar 80s is sold in a limited edition Consortium box and comes with 5 different lace options. Each set of laces features the logos of Huf, DQM, Undefeated, and Goodfoot on the tips.

Contribute hype to eatmoreshoes

Here at eatmoreshoes we love our kicks, but we also open our minds to the greater cultural world that surrounds and engulfs the sneaker scenes around the world. Music, arts, events, films, performance, fashion, food, and people are at the heart of what is so good about lush leather and sweet suede strapped to your ankles with soft vintage laces, fats or thins, colored or bleached. We truly believe it’s the diversity of the scenes that make things stay exciting and keep up momentum year after year.

For this reason we see ‘hype’ as something that should cover more than just the most recent shoe releases or the most awaited collaborations between boutiques and brands. We think an album debut party or an avantgarde street performance could be ‘hype’. We think independent zine issues and self-built, DIY, underground gallery spaces are worthy of the title ‘hype’.

Welcome to eatmoreshoes, an online magazine specifically geared towards the adidas and PUMA brands.

The idea behind our magazine is relatively simple: we’re creating a site that showcases both the ‘history’ and the ‘hype’ of the worldwide sneaker culture without being elitist or trying to dictate to our readers. We cover various aspects of this culture by providing archives of adidas and PUMA shoes and clothing, hunting down and interviewing collectors, searching out the best stores we can find, and reporting on the hype.
