adidas Rom

  • MODEL: ADIDAS ROM
  • SERIES: ADIDAS CITY SERIES CITY SERIES (EUROPEAN CITY SERIES)
  • MADE IN: YUGOSLAVIA
  • ART.NO: 3030

The adidas Rom is one of the oldest adidas models out there, originally released in 1959 to celebrate the 1960 Rome Olympics, but the re-release of the model in 1979 was the beginning of the popular and classic silhouette that we all know today.

Due to the vast time that the Rom has been around it is deemed by many as one of the most recognized and sought-after models that adidas have produced. Whilst it is basically impossible to find the original Rom, it is still possible to find a few of the 1979 re-issues hanging around in select vintage shops both internationally and online.

After the re-release in 1979 multiple versions were produced through the mid and late 80’s, some featured a different sole unit to others like the made in France version that was produced with a flat sole rather than the ridged melongit sole used on the older West Germany version. It was things like this that made each version of the Rom unique in its own way, however the ridged melongit sole has proven to be the preferred choice on the Rom and is therefore replicated onto the pairs that we see in shops today.
