To celebrate a decade of adidas Originals in Berlin’s Mitte (center) neighborhood, the good old three stripes released a 10th Anniversary Pack which included a special made-in-Germany ZX 9000 “Berlin” and a matching “Colorado” Track Top. Japan and New York will also be releasing similar 10th Anniversary Packs later on in the year to celebrate the ten successful years their Originals stores have been open too.

The shoes were limited to 150 pairs worldwide, with under 70 of them being made available at the Berlin store on Muenzstrasse. They came packages in Consortium-style box, royal blue and stiffer than the usual Originals box, but with gold stripes instead of silver and gold writing on the top which reads “Made for 10th Anniversary Origianls Stores Berlin | Tokyo | New York”. Inside is a stiff, white cardboard placard with Berlin’s 10th Anniversary logo on it, a blue and white illustration of the Originals store with “Berlin” written on it’s large display windows.

The limited edition ZX 9000 was designed by Josh Herr and manufactured in Germany. Its upper is built of various shades of grey leather, shining slightly with patches of 3M material beneath the side stripes, around the toe box, and lining the ankle collar. The heel is firmly supported with a plastic frame seen on most ZX 9000′s and 8000′s, complete with clear plastic windows to show the laser-etched numbered edition of the shoe. The white and grey outsole shows the shoe’s main accent, a small application of three red stripes just before the midsole. The bottom is finished with an icy off-white, semi-transparent rubber layer including black grip points and the well-known Torsion system.

The shoes come laced with grey laces through their darker grey, plastic eyelet system that matches the color of the heel support frame. A plastic lace jewel is provided which reads “adidas Torsion” and a light grey leather tag is looped through the laces near the top eyelet, showing off Berlin’s 10th Anniversary logo, the date the store was originally opened (September 2001) and the number of the limited edition shoe. The innersole is completely covered in bright, reflective, silver foil and has the 10th Anniversary slogan printed on the insert with black ink.

[...] inspiring: they’re made in Germany. Damn right. First spotlit pair (that I know of) since the ‘Made for Berlin’ ZX 9000 back in 2011. And to me, that’s something quite special, but for the rest who couldn’t [...]
