Releasing a classic silhouette is all about taking inspiration from past designs and combining with new ideas. It seems that adidas has succeeded at this with a 2002 re-release of the Rekord model.

The shoe primarily consists of a baby blue (“altitude” or “atmosphere”) smooth leather upper, accented with white perforated leather side stripes and a matching thin heel patch branded with a blue adidas trefoil. The toe is reinforced with a rough half-cut or nubuck patch that matches the perforated eye stays.

Underneath the laces lies a thin, plain 80s style over-sized tongue with a layer of soft padding stitched onto it. There is also high stitching under ankle traces far back to vertical heel stripe. The insole is a soft light blue with a white trefoil and adidas logo, and the final touch is a gum outsole, turned up slightly more than usual at the toe, with diagonal line texture on the sides and a wavey grip pattern on bottom.

These adidas Rekord’s come with silvery blue laces that match the colorway nicely.

Contribute hype to eatmoreshoes

Here at eatmoreshoes we love our kicks, but we also open our minds to the greater cultural world that surrounds and engulfs the sneaker scenes around the world. Music, arts, events, films, performance, fashion, food, and people are at the heart of what is so good about lush leather and sweet suede strapped to your ankles with soft vintage laces, fats or thins, colored or bleached. We truly believe it’s the diversity of the scenes that make things stay exciting and keep up momentum year after year.

For this reason we see ‘hype’ as something that should cover more than just the most recent shoe releases or the most awaited collaborations between boutiques and brands. We think an album debut party or an avantgarde street performance could be ‘hype’. We think independent zine issues and self-built, DIY, underground gallery spaces are worthy of the title ‘hype’.

Welcome to eatmoreshoes, an online magazine specifically geared towards the adidas and PUMA brands.

The idea behind our magazine is relatively simple: we’re creating a site that showcases both the ‘history’ and the ‘hype’ of the worldwide sneaker culture without being elitist or trying to dictate to our readers.
