In 2011 the No6 (London, UK) and No74 (Berlin, DE) stores released a sweet remake of the Campus 80s silhouette nicknamed the “Bananas”. The shoe was a design collaboration between the X-Large Japan (a clothing company originally from Los Angeles) and adidas Originals as a part of the Japan-SMU line. It’s well-known that the Campus was an all-time favorite of Beastie Boy Mike D. – one of the founders of X-Large back in 1991 – and thus it makes sense why this model has been chosen for a new look.

This lush, low-top sneaker is a very subtle retake on this classic silhouette, comprised of a soft, black, pig skin suede upper, broken only by the three, metallic silver side stripes and matching heel patch. The insole is patterned with yellow bananas (possibly referencing the ape logo used by X-Large), the outsole is solid white, and the shoes come with both black and silver laces.
