The Berlin Bread & Butter (BBB) is a week-long, biannual fashion event that is commonly celebrated by the high end and commercial as well as underground and street fashion shops throughout Berlin. The well-known and lively Torstrasse is especially vivid during these two times of the year, packed with sneaker shops, vintage clothing dives, and other unique apparel boutiques.
In 2011 adidas Originals worked closely with the fashion circuit in order to push out a pair of Decade Hi’s that would commemorate the 10th anniversary of the BBB and show off Berlin’s city colors. This sweet pair was produced boasting a classic white leather upper with red detailing in the stripes, heel area, laces, sockliner, and outsole. The BBB logo is found on the side of the shoe and on a keychain tag included in the box, both depicting the Berlin bear and a large, brightly colored, neon red, letter ‘X’ to symbolize the 10th anniversary of the BBB.
Limited to 1,000 pairs worldwide the shoes were picked up quickly for their clean colorway as well as their collector’s appeal. They were packaged in the usual royal blue Originals box and came with an extra set of bright red insoles that state “one decade from adidas with love”.
