Definitely the prize piece of all three flagship stores, not only is the model itself an undying legend, but its Japanese design is simply the best showcase of originality from the 10th Anniversary series.

Soft, plush, buttery black leather upper with black stripes and iconic shell toe. Wild tongue construction, slightly bent and rounded at its tip, and given a rubbery upper touch underneath which is etched the number of the shoe. Its inner side features a tesselation of molded triangles above a patch of black fur lining, both separated by the first of a few wild color splashes thrown throughout the inside of the shoe. Laces and heel stripe are patterned with a tan and black coloring that matches the insole, which bears the 10th Anniversary text. The final detailing touch are the words “Made For Tokyo”, embossed across the lower heel area, just above the midsole.

Only produced in the short run of one hundred and fifty pairs, the majority went on sale in Tokyo at the flagship Originals store, while the remainder were sent to sibling shops, both in Berlin and New York City, basically ‘in exchange’ for a similar, small sampling of their birthday shoes as well. Packaged in a specialized royal blue and gold box just as the Berlins were, each is numbered on its soft black leather tag, marked with gold lettering and featuring a small logo representing the Tokyo O-Store.

In my personal opinion, the only thing more successully lush than these from the entire 10th Anniversary series is the matching Tokyo track jacket. Love shelltoes and don’t got a pair? Shame on you.
