Started in 1897, the annually held Boston Marathon is a well-known American running event that takes place on Patriot’s Day in the Greater Boston area of Massachusetts. The inspiration for the event came from the initial marathon held at the 1896 Summer Olympics. Attracting half of a million visitors each year it’s obviously of mass popularity and is considered to be the world’s oldest annual marathon.

As always adidas Originals take direct notes for the sports world, paying homage to great athletes and attributing events with special series, rare releases, and creative collaborations. In the case of the Boston Marathon the famous three stripes decided to show their love and admiration through the creation of a new model; the adidas Boston Super.

Born in 1984 the shapely, high-tech-looking, running silhouette quickly took on and was continually released in a variety of colorways and styles. This particular pair from 2004 feature a soft suede and mesh combination upper. They’re further decorated with red details on the heel patch trim that runs up from the side stripes and matching red Ghilly ‘d’ ring eyelets allowing a faster lace-up.
