The adidas Tech Trainer from 1994 is a well padded, comfortable running silhouette that many sneaker fanatics may not have heard of yet. Pictured here is the white and “stratos” colorway, its main features being the combination of suede and textile on the upper, the layered protection on the toe box, and the thick, firm midsole that provides extra heel support.
Beyond the durability of the upper and sole, the low cut tongue is generously padded – like the soft sockliner – and curved a bit to fit against the ankle without resistance. The sneakers were originally sold with a light blue booklet-style tag clipped to the top eyelet informing the buyer of their make and model. Another curious detail is the design idea to have the three side stripes end before hitting the edge of the shoe’s upper. A pretty unique move for adidas’ line of models.

Contribute hype to eatmoreshoes
Here at eatmoreshoes we love our kicks, but we also open our minds to the greater cultural world that surrounds and engulfs the sneaker scenes around the world. Music, arts, events, films, performance, fashion, food, and people are at the heart of what is so good about lush leather and sweet suede strapped to your ankles with soft vintage laces, fats or thins, colored or bleached. We truly believe it’s the diversity of the scenes that make things stay exciting and keep up momentum year after year.
For this reason we see ‘hype’ as something that should cover more than just the most recent shoe releases or the most awaited collaborations between boutiques and brands. We think an album debut party or an avantgarde street performance could be ‘hype’. We think independent zine issues and self-built, DIY, underground gallery spaces are worthy of the title ‘hype’.
