PUMA Blue Bird

  • MODEL: PUMA BLUE BIRD
  • MADE IN: VIETNAM
  • MADE ON: --/11
  • ART.NO: 35196201

This 2011 retro of PUMA’s supposedly lightweight running trainer from the 1970s / 1980s dropped in at least five different colorways. We’ve seen a blue upper with yellow form stripes – similar to the vintage “Made in Italy” Blue Bird – as well as two red versions (one with yellow form stripes and another with blue form stripes), a black version with white form stripes, and finally a grey version with black form stripes.

The main difference between this re-release and the original Blue Bird is the yellow stitching replacing the black stitching from the vintage version. As well the outsole is a bit more red tinted in the recent release.

Selling on their launch at 60 GBP in the UK the throwback trainers were an incredibly good value as far as fashion, comfort, and price are concerned. Especially considering that many folks have been after the OG version of this shoe, which is understandably much harder to come. Marketed as an all-around athletic runner, it must be mentioned that this shoe is actually quite heavy and should be considered more for its casual appeal than for it’s supposed sporty purpose. With that being said, how can you go wrong with the undeniably classic combination of soft suede, form stripes, and a reliable gum outsole.
