The adidas Grand Slam might be a lesser known model but it’s certainly still one of the terrace classics that trainer heads worldwide can dig their toes into. Kept alive over the years, not only has the Grand Slam been re-released in various colorways but it’s also been handed over to external designers, such was the case with the Alife colab in 2003 and later with the Sneakersnstuff (SNS) Consortium colab in ’09.
For the later half of 2012 adidas Originals is reviving the silhouette with a classic look; white leather upper, golden side stripes and heel patch, and tan detailing on the tongue and sockliner. Design features we’re used to (such as the peg system for custom suspension adjustment in the heel, given a nice touch of color with the white, red, and dark navy blue pegs) are met with newer touches like the nubuck patch on the toe and the split tongue made up of a mesh center sandwiched in tasty leather.
Definitely a clean and cool win in our opinion, though if the color choices are disagreeable to you then your out of luck; these white and gold Grand Slam OG’s are the only variation of the timeless low-cut, indoor court model that Originals will be bringing to the public this season.
