adidas Gazelle OG

Besides three new colorways of the Gazelle Indoor model, adidas Originals is also dropping a remake of the Gazelle OG this August. The 2012 Fall season brings a calm “oak” green, white, and metallic gold take on the classic silhouette. Throwing a salute to the original, adidas keeps these fresh Gazelle’s easy on the eye with a simple suede build, white laces rhyming against the white rubber sole, and a minimal amount of branding, hence the bare heel tab. Not to mention what is most likely the centerpiece of the entire shoe; the vintage-style gold print across the outside wall stating the company and model name.

Taking a trip down memory lane, it’s commonly known that the OG Gazelle was released in the late 60′s (supposedly 1968) with it’s upgrade – the Gazelle 2 – to follow in 1980. Other upgrades have been seen on the market, such as the Gazelle Indoor as well as pairs specifically designed for both women and children. A definite favorite among trefoil lovers worldwide, the Gazelle (in its various forms) has been released in countless colorways and collaborations over the years, though it’s almost always retained it’s soft velour leather upper and simple, flat outsole (frequently seen as translucent gum instead of opaque white rubber when applied to the indoor model).

It seems that time tells the truth and consumers speak highly of the Gazelle, but even without the aid of sales numbers it’s honestly no surprise to us that adidas is at it again, dropping a lush Gazelle OG for another fashionable season.
