PUMA Clyde Promo Book

The PUMA Clyde Promo Book, also more accurately titled “Legend 01: Walt ‘Clyde’ Frazier”, is not to be confused with the Sneaker Freaker x PUMA Clyde Book that dropped in 2011. No, instead, this little piece of history came out as a free promo item when the NYC, London, and Tokyo Clyde’s came out in 2005.

Ninety-three pages of history that chart the beginnings and rising of the shoe, declaring its status and discussing the man who made it all possible. Interviews and photographs of various well-known PUMA Clyde fans and collectors from all walks of life are featured as well, to give a fuller perspective on the story. From Chris Law to Roots Manuva, these aren’t just your average fan-boys, but the true 70s and 80s icons of the art world, punk scene, graffiti circuit, and hip hop community.

Although this treasure is noted to be incredibly rare, finding it might not be too hard if you look repeatedly for some time in the usual dark spaces, though do beware of sellers who are over-pricing it, and remember: initially it cost nothing, so any penny you pay for it is actually a full cent of profit to the seller. As well, looking it up through the typical book hunt routes won’t prove fruitful, as this sweet cherry doesn’t even have a proper ISBN number.
