Crooked Tongues teamed up with adidas in 2006 to design a pair of Century Lo’s and a track top for the third palette in the adicolor series. They worked on the black releases, putting together a simple, low key design that was given an interactive touch via the inclusion of interchangeable tongues and laces for the shoes and a set of badges for the jacket.
The all black top is quite thicker and heavy than the average track jacket, made of a textured, rubbery polyester shell and equipped with thinner – more traditionally styled – track top sleeves. The left hand wrist is printed with the Crooked Tongues logo in white, and the right side is printed with the adidas logo and trefoil. The inner lining is the real treat, a black on white collage of adicolor imagery, complete with a buttoned, inner breast pocket.
The jacket comes in a white adicolor box and is packed with a set of interchangeable badges in a variety of colors that match the laces and tongues supplied with the similarly designed Century Lo’s. In order to get the orange laces and tongue early purchasers were asked to send a photo over to Crooked Tongues on their forum. The badges are branded with the adidas logo and the Crooked Tongues slogan ‘show love and drop knowledge’. The package also includes colored zipper tags for the front side pockets.
