It seems the PUMA Shadow Society really digs blues and reds this year, releasing both the ZDC82 and R698 in red and blue colorways, as well as giving the Red Star and Blue Star silhouettes some attention too. Whether or not there’s some deeper significance behind this trend is a detail only the heavily hidden members could tell you, though we can’t argue that they’re certainly classic colors with which one can’t go wrong.

Pictured here is the “true” blue and “flame” colored pair, a tribute to the original shape and construction of the 1982 outdoor trainer. Its waxed upper is layered with rough cuts of suede, distributing the blue across the body without overdoing it, and featuring the secondary orange hue in healthy amounts across the inner lining, plastic D-ring eyelets, heel tab, and formstripe stitching.

The ZDC82 traditionally sports a bit thicker, cushioned midsole and for this reason was eagerly adopted by joggers in the early 80s. Beyond maintaining the OG build of the runner, the Shadow Society designers have made their passion obvious by focusing on the details, not only of the shoe, but of its accesories as well, providing a leather lace bag to help hold the three alternate colors that come with the shoes.
