If the Supe-heads of the world have been begging and pleading, desperately asking ‘when are we getting a decent re-release?’, then they can cease their moans as the Summer sun sets and leaves begin to fall in 2012.
Another snakeskin Superstar 80s is set to drop this August in the same style as the “craft” gold pair we already featured. The two will be further joined by a light gray version as well, all of them blessed with lush suede uppers, high quality builds, and the subtly stylish inclusion of snakeskin stripes on the medial walls.
Tipping their hats to the past adidas Originals seem determined to push out the best of their archive this Autumn with OG versions of numerous silhouettes, including the infamous Superstar. From its initial debut in 1969 to its grand slam return in ’86 (when it was represented by none less than the great RUN DMC) the Superstar silhouette has carried with it a cult fame following that appears impossible to shatter.
Covered in a so-called “dark indigo” blue, this pair is best suited for the more silent types that may not feel inclined to have their shoes shouting across the train at people. We’re digging the quiet combination of black against the main body color, giving the overall colorway a low contrast and a humble yet classy feel. Finished off in a true retro flavor, the old school cream sole and shell toe bring out a winning result that spells nothing but quality, comfort, and of course originality.
